Irish Deaf FAQs

Irish Deaf.com Directory Listing FAQs

*FAQ updated on 9th February 2005*

Can I submit the list for free?

Yes, you can but there are some limits to free listing such as not showing phone numbers and company logo etc.

Ok, If I want to have more features like showing phone number, company logo etc. How can I get it?

Irish Deaf.com are offering 'Premium' membership for €70 euros each year - it includes:

  • Receive Irish Deaf.com directory book as part of Premium package
  • Priority above free listing
  • Phone and Fax number
  • Minicom and SMS number
  • Upload your business logo or photo (350x300)
  • Upload your banner for our rotating advertisements (450x200)
  • Submit your products and services with images uploading (400x300) - up to 20 products/services with images - you can ask for more if required
  • free e-mail account
  • Your company/organisation detail & logo will be in next edition of directory book

How can I upgrade to 'Premium'?

To upgrade, you need to submit your list as free listing first and then you can log-in with your username and password and click 'upgrade' button which will forward you to a secure server to fill in your credit card.

There's no lock symbol when I'm making credit card purchase! Is it safe to use Irish Deaf.com online payment system?

Yes, although there may be no lock symbol showing on Internet Explorer apart from other browers but you should able to see the 's' on the end of https at the address bar which shows your payment is in secure connection being taken care of by reputable 2checkout.com company.

Right, I don't have a credit card, how can I pay?

Don't worry, you can send your cheque payable to 'Irish Deaf.com' with the address provided in 'contacts' and don't forget to enclose your company name & username. However, unlike credit card payment, you may have to wait up to 2 or 3 weeks for your 'premium' account to be activated.

I live in Northern Ireland so I would like to know how much is sterling?

It is £50 (at currency rate on February 2005)sterling if you are posting cheque. However, for online credit card payment, your credit card can pay in euros and it will show in your credit billing in sterling at exchange rate.

What if I don't want to pay another year for Premium? Will I have to cancel and how will it effect my membership?

Don't have to do anything if you don't want to. You will be notified one week before your premium membership expires and if you don't intend to pay another year, your membership will be downgraded to 'free listing' automatically and free listing does not expires but will have limited details and features. You can always upgrade at any times even after your premium membership expires.

Ok, I am about to be finished filling out the submit form but it will not let me submit it without e-mail address. I don't have one, what should I do?

You can use our dummy e-mail address which is dummy@irishdeaf.com and you are free to use it. If you have signed up for new e-mail address such as yahoo or hotmail etc, you can log-in to change it to yours in other time.

If you have upgraded to premium, you are entitied to a free e-mail account with Irish Deaf.com and we can supply that. You can just contact irish deaf on fax or phone with username in hand.

I understand about this e-mail business, but why is it so necessary?

Because if user forgot or lost their password for log-in, user can use 'Password reminder' with their username which will submit password to user's e-mail automatically.

What if I am using dummy@irishdeaf.com and I might forgot my password? How can I get the password?

You can contact us on phone, minicom or fax providing you have your username and company name in hand, we will then give you a password from our dummy e-mail account. After that, you can change your password at log-in if you want to.

What is a banner?

It is an advertisment, which you do see sometimes on other website. It is recommended if you have something to sells or have event.

I can't upload logo or banner, why is that?

It could be that your logo/banner is too big in size. You need to reduce it to right size before uploading.

How can I reduce the size of logo/banner?

It can be done by using Image editing program such as Adobe Photoshop Element, Paintshop Pro etc or you can download some free imaging program from www.download.com.

If it's not possible, you can e-mail your logo/banner to info@irishdeaf.com along with your username and company name and we will edit it and upload it for you for free.

I would like to buy Irish Deaf.com directory book without upgraded to premium account? Is it possible?

Yes, it only cost €6.00 euros, you can post a cheque payable to 'Irish Deaf.com' to the address provided in 'Contacts' on menu. Please allow 2 or 3 weeks to recieve directory book.

Can I use your website link?

I have 5 venues around Ireland under the same organisation but I don't want to pay €70 euros for each venue for upgrading to Premium which will cost me €350 in total. Do I have to pay for each venue or just one price for all venues of the same organisation?

You only need to pay one price of €70 euros per year per organisation regardless of numbers of venues you have but you will need to fill the submit form and submit 5 times with 5 different account username and password (password can be the same if you prefer). You only need to upgrade just one of 5 account to 'Premium' with our online payment system. After that, you can e-mail info@irishdeaf.com with your remaining 4 usernames and one organisation name. We can upgrade the rest of your venues to premiyour 5 usernames and one organisation name.um manually.

Or post the cheque with your 5 usernames and one organisation name.

Why is IDC charging?

IDC does not receive any state funds. Thus, IDC depends on advertising, sponsorship and membership fees to cover expenses for the website and the directory.

I have three branches under the same organisation. Should I pay €70 euros each?

No but you only need to pay extra €10 for each branch you have under the same organisation. For example, 3 branches under same organisation will cost you €90 (€70+€10+€10).
